Exiting Those Pearly Gates of Heaven

I'm sat here, on my flight from Iceland to Manchester, England. Rob left for Salt Lake last night and I'm on this morning flight back to England to see family and to start shooting in London.

A quick rundown of our last few days in Iceland-

The Glacier tour I told you about in my last post was AMAZING. If you’re ever in Iceland, it’s the number one thing I’d suggest you do, if you can. It gave us a feeling about our existence and place in time, as humans, that I can’t put in to words. You’d love it. We then went on to Reykjavik, which we loved. We only had one day and one evening there, which, for us, was plenty. The city is awesome, but we came to Iceland for middle of nowhere moments, so the city was a wicked way to break up those remote stays, but one day was enough. We ate amazing food, and shopped.

We’d heard from so many Americans that the food out there wasn’t good, but we truly did not have a bad meal. Not even one, for our first week in Iceland. Rob and I are not particularly hard to please, in that department, so we might not be the best for that kind of advice, but as far as I'm concerned, you’d have nothing to worry about, when it comes to food.

After that, we had our final 2.5 days in what I can only describe as heaven on earth. We stayed at a place call The Retreat. It's at the Blue Lagoon, but it’s a swanky spa hotel, and it couldn’t have been more relaxing. I promise I'm not paid to say that, and we paid for our room full price. So, I can speak genuinely about how amazing it was. As soon as we got to the lobby, and then our room, we knew it was going to be a stay to remember, forever. We danced around the room as soon as we got in. Jessie Ware’s latest album on blast again. It has literally been the soundtrack to this entire trip.

Ok, so the hotel is hella expensive. The most we’ve ever paid for a hotel, but with it being our BabyMoon, we’re treating ourselves. We got full body salt scrub/mud mask treatments every day, and also in-water massages. I mean, what the fuuuuuu. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Amazing. The only thing that let the place down was the Lava Restaurant. Fancy food, but not to our taste. We’re more down-home country folks who enjoy bread, burgers, fries and hearty desserts over a bone broth reduction and salmon infused froth/bubbly situation. But, we really can’t complain, as everything else at the hotel was so amazing. So, we went to the store and got crusty breads, cheeses, spreads and veggie platters to enjoy for the rest of our trip, and they were gorgeous.

We were so sad to check out and head to the airport. We had the most amazing time out here and have decided to try to come back as often as physically possible, over the coming decades, if we’re fortunate.

Baby update? Yes!

Our lovely surrogate tells us it’s still such an easy pregnancy, but that her blood pressure is super high now. So, I'm so glad that Rob is getting back to SLC in a few hours. He’s going to get the room/house ready ASAP, so that if she does deliver soon after I get home on July 25th , we’ll be ready. Fingers crossed that’s not the case, as he’d be over 4 weeks early still, and I want him to be as big and strong as possible before he comes out. But, my gosh, my heart. I can hardly wait to hold him and kiss him. I already love him so much. Rob and I talk about him constantly, imagining what he’ll be like, and how he’ll change our lives.

Almost time to land. So, here’s how the next week is looking. I get to Manchester in a few mins, to see my mum and siblings and a couple friends, for the next 3 days, and then I'm heading down to London on Sunday to get ready to shoot from Monday. I'm so excited to see my family and get going on the doc. I haven’t seen my fam in 16 months, so it’s very much over-due. I see them on FaceTime every week or so, but it’s not enough, obvs.

Time to land. Thanks for reading. Please pop my baby boy and surrogate in your prayers for me, if you can.

See you next week.

xx

Shooting Next in Fashion, life in NYC and canceled flights. It’s been a week.

I’ve now been in NYC a couple of weeks and really feel settled in to a routine. When I first got here, I had a day off before I started work, and I felt really blue. I didn’t plan anything with friends, as I wanted to be free to go to the stores to get whatever I needed to feel at home at my temporary apartment. But, I was done by mid day an...

First week of Next in Fashion down, and settling in to NYC life

It’s crazy how fast the time is going by for me, here in New York. I’m here for 5 weeks and sad that I'm already 2 weeks in. It’s bitter sweet. Of course, I wanna be home and with my son, to see every new little thing he does, and to hold him in my arms, but I also love being here doing my job. I love this job. I'm learning that I can love...

Back to shooting my favorite show, Next in Fashion, and celebrating my son’s first Eid.

Every time I come here to write a new post, I wanna start it by saying “wow, what a week”. I guess every week has felt a little bit nuts over recent years, and it just never gets old. That’s a good thing. I love the excitement I still feel.
