As I type this, I'm gearing up for an in-person event, tomorrow. By in-person, I mean I will be speaking somewhere public, live and on-stage in front of an audience. I used to do this every couple of weeks or so, for a couple of years, up until March 2020, and I used to love it. I never thought of being careful not to get too close to anyone, or to shake a hand. I'm actually a little nervous about it. I'm glad I get to be on a stage and not having to do a big photo line, like I used to do. I used to love being able to get up close and chat with people who just love the show (shows), but now I'm more anxious, so I'm glad to just have the actual talk, this time around, to ease me back in.

This one is in Arkansas, a place I’ve never been before. Yesterday, a friend asked me if I was excited to see another state, but honestly, I rarely get to see the places I'm visiting. I get there in time to shower and change, and then straight on stage. Then, back to the hotel, sleep, and wake early for my next flight. That’s how it always was, even before the pandemic. This job is so hectic that there’s rarely time to take anything in. I promise I'm not complaining. I'm so grateful for this life I have. It’s just one of the parts of the job….when you visit a place, you never actually see it.

Someone called me out on a related accidental lie a short while back. When I started shooting Queer Eye in Austin, I did a press interview and the interviewer said “have you come to enjoy Austin, as you’ve been here a few times already?”. I told him this was my first time here and he then read off dates when I had been there before, for speaking engagements or shoots, and I had no recollection. It’s not because I put those moments out of my mind, I just literally cannot remember a place if all I see of it is from the inside of a car.

After Arkansas, I'm heading straight off to NYC for 3 days, for some Fashion Week stuff. I can hardly wait. I was asked by a MAJOR Designer brand to do a cameo in a video they’re shooting, and it was such a honor to be asked. So, I'm going to shoot that and see a couple of shows, and enjoy a couple of events. I haven’t been to any fashion week stuff for a few years now, so I cant wait to be back. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of watching a show, as soon as that music kicks in.

Also, I get to see my NEW CO-HOST….Gigi Hadid!! Did you see my IG post last week, about the return of Next in Fashion, and that Gigi is going to be my new Co-Host this time around? I am so glad it's coming back. I love the show so much. I’ve actually never enjoyed a job more. It’s just pure joy and fun. I know that might sound insane, considering the fact that I get to work on Queer Eye, and I really do enjoy my time filming that show, but it’s so emotional that it’s not an easy show to shoot. So often, I find it hard to switch off after the day of shooting, depending on the hero’s story. With NIF, it’s relatively stress free, and I get to watch designers create amazing work. I love it, and cannot wait to start shooting it again, in a few months. Also, I get to work with my good friend, who I love. Gigi and I have never worked together, and this is her first time hosting a series show, so I know we’re both going to have a blast.

Did you also check out the new coats we launched for Was Him? I am so happy that I finally got to share those with the world, as they are my very favorites of the entire brand, so far. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Well, time to get to work. Much love and see you next week!

Shooting Next in Fashion, life in NYC and canceled flights. It’s been a week.

I’ve now been in NYC a couple of weeks and really feel settled in to a routine. When I first got here, I had a day off before I started work, and I felt really blue. I didn’t plan anything with friends, as I wanted to be free to go to the stores to get whatever I needed to feel at home at my temporary apartment. But, I was done by mid day an...

First week of Next in Fashion down, and settling in to NYC life

It’s crazy how fast the time is going by for me, here in New York. I’m here for 5 weeks and sad that I'm already 2 weeks in. It’s bitter sweet. Of course, I wanna be home and with my son, to see every new little thing he does, and to hold him in my arms, but I also love being here doing my job. I love this job. I'm learning that I can love...

Back to shooting my favorite show, Next in Fashion, and celebrating my son’s first Eid.

Every time I come here to write a new post, I wanna start it by saying “wow, what a week”. I guess every week has felt a little bit nuts over recent years, and it just never gets old. That’s a good thing. I love the excitement I still feel.

As a professional musician, I can completely relate to the realities of touring life & not really seeing the places your gig is located in. So excited to watch another season of Next in Fashion! All the best & good luck with the in-person event tomorrow ❤️

How did I miss this announcement? I guess I have been on social media less in recent weeks. I saw your posts from Antoni's visit. Loved them. But I totally missed anything about NIF! My husband and I enjoyed the show so much and were sad when it w…

Your contributions to each show you do are immeasurable. Perhaps for the events you go to in areas you have not been, your assistant or a kind crew member, could put together a small photo book of places to visit that the state or area you are in, is f…
