You guys, we are just a week away from the end of Season 2 of Next in Fashion. I don’t know where the time went. Gigi and I have had such an amazing time shooting this show, and we’re so sad that it's coming to an end. We are both hoping that we’ll get at least another season, so we can work together again, as we have created the most amazing work environment for each other.
The show is fantastic this season. I thought that we would struggle to do better than season 1, but my gosh, this season is next level. The designers are so great. They’re so talented and have come up with some fantastic designs. The guest judges have been MAJOR, which has really added to the excitement of the show. And, the show itself got even more impressive. There are so many twists and turns, not to mention the incredible production of the runway shows. I hope you will love it all. We don’t know when Netflix will launch this season, but I'm hoping it’ll be late this year, or super early next year. Fingers crossed. We don’t wanna have to wait too long!
I finally managed to get back home to see my boys. I had to fly to LA first, as all direct NYC to Salt Lake flights were sold out, but it didn’t matter that it took 8 hours to get home. It was so worth it.
When I walked through the front door and in to the living room, I got so excited to see my son. Rob was in the kitchen, so I ran up to Ismail and he got so scared. He didn’t recognize me and immediately started to panic and looked around for his dad. It was all I could do not to cry. Thankfully, within a few seconds, he started to recognize me, as I spoke to him in our native language, Urdu, which is how I often speak to him. I also started singing to him a song that he knows I alone sing to him, as it's in Hindi (an Indian language), which seemed to help him realize it was me.
I called Rob in to the room, so that Ismail would feel more comfortable, and then I got him from his play space and held him so tight. It felt beautiful to hold my boy again. There’s literally no better feeling than when I have him in my arms, and he holds my face. Even though I’ve seen him multiple times a day, via FaceTime, over the past 3 weeks that I’ve been gone, he looked more beautiful than ever. Gosh, I love that boy.
We had such a lovely evening together, and then I had to leave for NYC the following morning. It was a long trip for just a few hours, but those few hours gave me what I needed to get me through this last week away.
Rob came with me to NYC for 2 days. It was the first time Rob has had a day off from dad duties in the almost 11 months since Ismail arrived. Our nanny stayed at home with Ismail to take care of him whilst Rob was away. Rob so needed a couple of days away to reset and feel like a person again. I'm so glad he came with me. He came to set with me all day, for those two days, which I'm sure wasn’t the most fun for him, but I was so happy to get to spend time with him. I love him so bloody much. He left this morning, and I was so sad to see him go, but I'm happy I’ll get to be home, with my boys, in just over a week.
Time to get back to shooting. Have a great week/weekend and I’ll see you back here next week.
