Now that we have a nanny to help in the daytime, I can finally get back to all of the things we’ve been too busy to do, over the past 6 months, since Ismail was born. I always prided myself on keeping a clean and tidy home, but with work and parenting, my house became over run with baby stuff and random crap. Rob and I have committed to making sure we take care of all of that within the week. It’ll take a few days, but my gosh, it’ll be worth it. I don’t know about you, but when my house isn’t in order, it makes me so anxious and it nags me constantly.
I also will finally be able to get on with designing the new collection of my outerwear brand, Was Him. We’re launching drop 2 in a couple of weeks, which is an extension of the first collection, so it’s still very much Americana ranch themed. I gave a sneak peek a few days ago, when I wore one of the new jackets on Jimmy Fallon. I am obsessed with that jacket and I’d like to believe that all of the four new items in drop 2 are just awesome. I hope you’ll like them, too.

For Fall/Winter 2022, I'm working on the overall theme for the collection, and what I want to convey. I do love having the luxury, with outerwear, of not having to follow a trend, or consider what styles might be hot, as our silhouettes are pretty classic.
I think I want to work in some South Asian elements, which I think could be awesome, as long as they don’t slip in to costume. Also, the brand is genderless, so I want to make sure that whatever I create appeals to men as well as women and non-binary. It’s a tall order but I'm excited to get going on it, so that we can launch in October.

It is crazy to think that even though we’re only in January, I'm already worried that October is coming up so soon. The fashion world is a weird one, and we’re always working months, if not years in advance, hoping that what we think it beautiful now, will still seem beautiful to us in a year, and we hope that we’re not completely over it by launch.
Rob and I also want to try to go to see a movie this week. Now that our nanny has been with us over a week, she knows the lay of the land, so we want to try to do something ‘normal’ that we used to do before we became parents. We used to go to the cinema most weeks, and brunch or lunch, and we miss doing those little things so much. Honestly, having a nanny is allowing us to really feel connected again as a couple, not just as Ismail’s parents, and that’s making us better partners and parents. It’s a win win.
We were so nervous about having someone watch our most important thing in the world, and worried that it would be so awkward having someone in our home, but it’s been such an easy adjustment, and I pray that it continues to get more and more normal for us. Our nanny is lovely and has fit right in to our life.
Also, we got an amazing update this week. The permits for our new house build have come through, which means that building can begin in a couple of months, when the weather improves, and we cannot bloody wait. We’re already 6 months behind when we were hoping to start, so we’re excited to finally get going. We’re working with the Fox Group to build our home, and they do the most beautiful work and usually finish a build in just over a year. So, we’re praying that in Spring 2023 we’ll be able to move in to our forever home, in Salt Lake.
On that note, time to tidy up our current home. Have a great week and meet back here next week. x
